Starting off strong, we’ve got some airplane food for our overnight flight from Miami to Heathrow. The veggie salad was delish and the meal wasn’t bad, an 7.5 for airplane food.
We landed early in the morning in Heathrow, where we spotted Charlie Heaton (Jonathan from Stranger Things) in the airport. My first celeb siting! Haha.
After checking into our hotel, Leonardo Royal Hotel London City (great location for sight seeing), we walked past the Tower Bridge and had our first pub pint at The Dickens Inn.
We had American baseball style nachos because they were out of fish & chips and had a limited menu at the time. It was great because we only want a little snack before site seeing. (You can see more about our hotel and activity ratings here.)
It’s a classic, pretty, pub and restaurant on the St Katharine Docks, a marina with different yachts and narrow boats to see. It’s also a perfect area for a phone booth photo opp moment.
Rating: Worth visiting for the experience!
After walking through the Tower of London in the freezing rain drizzles, we searched for something walking distance to eat.
Wagamama, a British restaurant chain (there are some now in the U.S.) was the perfect cozy spot to warm up and relax. It’s an asian themed restaurant inspired by Japanese cooking, and while it was good, it wasn’t the same as going to a Japanese restaurant.
If you set your expectations for classic ramen or other noodle dishes you might be disappointed, but it seemed fresh and the staff were super nice. Families and small groups of people started showing up, so many people in the area enjoy the food. This article is a full review if you’re interested.
Rating: Good enough for a bite to eat. Not authentic if you’re craving Asian. 🍜
Lucozade sightings kept me laughing from my first purchase. Thinking this pink Lucozade Zero was going to be similar to a Gatorade Zero, a refreshing kick of electrolites. But instead, it was was more like a Diet Coke. 😭
Reading the back of the label, I saw the aspartame and caffeine and knew that was the reason I had a little extra pep in my step.
After roaming around the financial district, some locals told us to try out EastCheap Records, along the way we found Yalla Beirut Restaurant Tower Hill and opted for Orlando’s favorite — late night donor.
We had a lamb donor wrap and I had to try some cheese fries. 🍟
Rating: Delicious casual stop if you’re in Tower Hill.
Our first full day in London, we walked over the Tower Bridge and found WatchHouse, a specialty coffee shop and cafe. They have multiple locations and we loved the vibe of their flagship, Tower Hill.
We had eggs on avocado toast with smoked salmon. (We shared the eggs and salmon from one dish and put it on the other avocado toast. 😉)
The coffee was incredible, they had all sorts of pastries, and it was such a nice ambiance.
Oh, and they have a huge clean bathroom which is always a great find! 😂
Rating: Definitely stop in for breakfast! I’ll make sure to go back when we visit again and maybe try a different location too.
Finally, after many failed attempts and miles of walking around the city we had the best fish and chips experience ever!
Walking around SoHo was so fun, there was tons to see and bustling with Londoners and tourists. (Open this in a new tab to read about it later!)
We made it to Hobsons and were sat at a cozy two-person table, right by the front window, making it the perfect people-watching spot.
The staff were very friendly and we noticed tons of pick up orders, so people are loving the food and so did we.
Haddock and cod are their main fish and chips orders, so we ordered both and like the cod slightly — slightly — better. Either options is a great choice.
Rating: 10/10 would recommend.
